When Morning Gilds the Skies is sung here to the tune Laudes Domini, by Joseph Barnby, 1868. The words are credited to German, 19th Century. This four-part setting is from The Army and Navy Hymnal of 1920, compiled for worship in the United States Army and Navy; the closing Amen is left off.

Who Joseph Barnby was
English composer, organist and conductor who led the Royal Albert Hall Choral Society. He wrote hundreds of hymn tunes and the part-song Sweet and Low. He later became principal of the Guildhall School of Music.
