Open the sheet music libraryWhat this is
Most free sheet music is a scan of a page. This is the music itself: every score here is engraved notation the browser understands, so it plays back at any tempo, loops the bar you keep missing, and prints cleanly when you want paper. All of it is public domain, which is why it can be given away without asking anybody for an email address first.

Questions people ask
Is this really free?
Yes. Every composer on this shelf is long dead and the music itself is out of copyright, so there is nothing here we are licensed to lend you rather than give you. The largest batch, over 1,600 scores, was taken from PDMX with the licence checked file by file and anything not marked public domain or CC0 refused. Nearly two hundred more are editions from the Mutopia Project, each credited on its page with the licence its editor gave it. Read it, print it, teach from it, record it.
Can I download the files?
Each piece's page links its MusicXML, which MuseScore, Sibelius, Finale and Dorico all open. For paper, open the score and print: the reader lays it out for the page.
Do I need an account?
No. The library opens and plays without one. An account only exists so your progress follows you to another device.
What if I cannot read music yet?
Start with the symbol dictionary, which explains every mark on the page, and the scale pages for fingering. The shelf's easiest pieces are single-line melodies written to be somebody's first read.
