About this piece
The English Hymnal of 1906 sets Lord, in this thy mercy’s day as hymn 76 to the tune Heiliger Geist (Berlin); the hymnal's own credit reads: J. Crüger, 1598 to 1662. The four-part harmony is printed as the hymnal gives it, soprano and alto in the right hand and tenor and bass in the left.
How to play it
Aim for a smooth, joined sound, lifting only between the lines of the verse. A steady 3/2 pulse matters more than speed in a hymn.
