About this piece
Wandl' ich in dem Wald des Abends is a partsong by Fanny Hensel, who lived from 1805 to 1847, first printed in 1835. The words are by Heinrich Heine. Here the choir's three parts are set on two staves for piano, the top voice in the right hand and the two lower voices in the left.
How to play it
Three voices share two hands here, so keep the lone line in one hand as smooth and singing as the pair in the other. Choose a calm tempo you can hold from the first bar to the last, and breathe at the ends of the phrases.
