About this piece
The English Hymnal of 1906 sets Her Virgin eyes saw God incarnate born as hymn 217 to the tune Farley Castle; the hymnal's own credit reads: H. Lawes, 1595 to 1662. The four-part harmony is printed as the hymnal gives it, soprano and alto in the right hand and tenor and bass in the left.

English composer and singer who wrote music for Milton's masque Comus. He wrote many songs. Milton wrote a sonnet in his honour.
