- Learn the right hand of bars 1 to 8 on its own, in C major. Say the note names out loud the first time through, then play it three times without stopping.

About this piece
Der Herr ist König herrlich schön, SWV 191 is a chorale by Heinrich Schütz, who lived from 1585 to 1672, and it was printed in 1628 in Psalmen Davids. Psalm 93 from the Becker Psalter. Here the choir's three parts are set on two staves for piano, the two upper voices in the right hand and the bass in the left.
How to play it
Listen for each of the three voices as its own line, and let none of them drop out when the texture thins. Feel it in a gentle one in a bar once the notes are secure.
