About this piece
Our moments fly apace (EVENING HYMN) is a psalm tune by Elisha West, who lived from 1756 to 1832, and it was printed in 1802 in The Musical Concert. The words are by Isaac Watts. Here the choir's four parts are set on two staves for piano, soprano and alto in the right hand and tenor and bass in the left.
How to play it
Play it as four singers rather than as chords: let the top line sing, keep the bass steady, and move the inner voices smoothly. Count it in two, with a calm half note pulse.
