- Hear it through at Slow (66 bpm). Open it in the reader, choose Slow, and follow the page with your eyes without playing. As it plays, count 2 big beats to the bar.
- Learn the right hand of bars 1 to 8 on its own, in C major. Say the note names out loud the first time through, then play it three times without stopping.
- Find the chords under it: G7, C, Cmaj7 and Fmaj7. Play each one as a block in your left hand and say its name, so you know what the harmony is before the left hand has to move.
- Learn the left hand of the same bars on its own. Keep it quiet and even: it is the floor the tune stands on.
- Put hands together at Slow, 66 bpm. Bars 1 to 8 only. Stop after every wrong note and play that bar again before moving on.
- Move up to Steady (98 bpm) once Slow feels easy three times in a row. Then learn the next 8 bars the same way: right hand, left hand, together.

About this piece
Paul Delmet was a Parisian songwriter of the café-concert world, and Envoi de fleurs was published by Enoch in 1897 in this transcription for grand organ. Here it is arranged for piano from the organ original: a lilting 6/8 tune in the right hand over gentle chords, with a sustained line that sits above the left-hand accompaniment.
How to play it
Let the tune float with a soft lilt, two beats to the bar. The held middle line and the left-hand chords share one hand in places, so hold the long notes and keep the chords light.

Who Delmet was
French songwriter who sang at Le Chat Noir, the famous cabaret in Montmartre. His sentimental songs were hugely popular in Paris in the 1890s. He died young, at forty-one.
