Henry Lemoine (1786-1854)

French pianist, teacher and publisher whose Études enfantines are still, nearly two centuries later, one of the first sets of real studies a child is given. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire, took over his family's publishing house, and printed a good deal of the piano music France was writing around him. The firm that carries his name is still publishing sheet music in Paris today, which makes him one of the very few composers on this shelf whose business outlived his music.
