About this piece
A shepherds' cradle song from the county of Glatz, set by Max Bruch, arranged for piano from the choir original. The 6/8 rocks like a cradle, and the opening leaps straight up an octave from D to D.
How to play it
Feel two slow beats in each bar of 6/8, not six quick ones. Keep the rocking even and quiet in the left hand under the tune.

Who Bruch was
German composer and teacher best known for his first Violin Concerto in G minor and Kol Nidrei for cello. He wrote a great deal of choral music and was a respected conductor. He sold the rights to his most famous concerto early on and hardly profited from its success.
